POLICE OFFICER

 

The Bolingbrook Police Department is seeking honest, alert, industrious and intelligent candidates who will maintain the prestigious standards of our Police Department. Applications are now being accepted to create a 2-year eligibility list for the position of Police Officer. Starting salary: $53,582. Salary after 5 years of service: $76,546. 

 

Entry Requirements:

 

§         All applicants are required to be between the ages of 21 and 34 years of age by February 26, 2010 except as otherwise provided for in the Illinois Statutes.

§         United States Citizens of good moral character

§         High School graduate or equivalent and have 60 semester hours (90 quarter hours) of accredited college credit and/or military service at the time of appointment (see web site for additional details)

§         Posses a valid Driver's License

§         Residency within a 13-mile radius of Bolingbrook is required within 18 months of appointment.

 

Educational Requirements:

 

Applicants for appointment to the Police Department shall speak the English language understandably to the satisfaction of the Board and shall have, at the time of appointment, successfully completed either:

 

(A)   At least sixty (60) semester hours or ninety (90) quarter hours of credit at a college or university accredited by one of the six (6) main regional accrediting bodies responsible for evaluating two-year and four-year institutions that grant Associate and Bachelor degrees as recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation; or

 

(B)   At least forty-five (45) semester hours or (67) quarter hours of credit at a college or university accredited by one of the six (6) main regional accrediting bodies responsible for evaluating two-year and four-year institutions that grant Associate and Bachelor degrees as recognized by the Council for Higher Education and two (2) years of continuous active duty in the armed forces of the United States and, if the applicant has been discharged from the armed forces of the United States, that discharge is not other than an Honorable Discharge or

 

(C)   At least thirty (30) semester hours or (45) quarter hours of credit at a college or university accredited by one of the six (6) main regional accrediting bodies responsible for evaluating two-year and four-year institutions that grant Associate and Bachelor degrees as recognized by the Council for Higher Education and two (4) years of continuous active duty in the armed forces of the United States and, if the applicant has been discharged from the armed forces of the United States, that discharge is not other than an Honorable Discharge.

 

 

Testing Process:

 

The Bolingbrook Fire and Police Board conduct competitive examinations to establish the eligibility list from which Probationary Police Officer appointments are made.  The testing process includes:

§         Physical Agility Test

§         Written Examination

§         Oral Interview

§         Background Investigations

§         Polygraph & Psychological Testing

§         Medical Examination

§         Uncorrected Binocular Vision at least 20/40, corrected 20/20

 

 

 

Mandatory Orientation/Physical Agility Test 

Saturday, April 10, 2010 @ 8AM.

 

Written Exam 

Saturday, April 17, 2010 @ 8AM.

A nonrefundable $50.00 application fee must be paid at the time the application is obtained. All completed applications must be received no later than 5:00 p.m. on Friday, February 26, 2010.
