The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5917 and American Legion Post 1288 presented their annual awards acknowledging the following Village of Bolingbrook employees for their service to the community.

 

Fire Department – Lieutenant David Proffitt

Police Department – Officer Christopher Crofford

Public Services and Development – Fidel Sanchez

 

In addition to the residential Spirit of Christmas Awards presented to homeowners, there was an award for the best decorations through Festival of Lights Holiday Subdivision program.  The Somerfield Subdivision received their award.    

 

Several Commissioners were appointed to the following roles and Commissions.  Residents can apply for Commissions on the Village website to share their skills to serve the Village.

Approval of Bills

Trustees voted to approve bills in the amount of $389,387.17. 

 

Resolutions

Approval of Resolution (21R-016) Approving Proposal/Request for Purchase of Wireless Fire Alarm Radio Boxes from Johnson Controls Security Solutions

 

Trustees voted to approve the purchase of twenty (20) radio boxes for installation in newly constructed buildings in the Village.  The current supply of wireless fire alarm boxes has been depleted.  The cost is $23,000.

 

The Public Safety Committee reviewed and recommended approval.

 

Approval of Resolution (21R-010) for Construction on State Highway

 

Trustees voted to approve this Resolution which guarantees that all work shall be performed by the Village in accordance with conditions of the permit granted by the Department.  Before any work can be done on a State highway a working permit must be obtained from the Department of Transportation.

 

The Public Safety Committee reviewed and recommended approval.

 

Approval of Resolution (21R-017) Resolution Authorizing the Purchase of Self- Contained Breathing Apparatuses (SCBA) Air Packs from Air One Equipment, Inc.  

 

Trustees voted to approve the purchase of 44 self-contained breathing apparatuses (SCBA).  The Fire Department’s SCBA units have reached their life expectancy with several mechanical issues and limited parts available for repair.  The new units are compatible with current equipment and include a 15-year warranty.  The Fire Department received three (3) quotes and Air One Equipment was the lowest quote received. The cost is not to exceed $281,867.00.

Ordinances

Approval of Ordinance (21-014) Amending Chapter 13 of the Municipal Code and Increasing Class “C-8” (Beer & Wine) from One (1) to Two (2) – El Valle Market – 595 N. Pinecrest Road

 

Trustees voted to approve an increase in the number of Class “C-8” liquor licenses from one (1) to two (2) for El Valle Market, which is requesting a Class “C-8” liquor license (Beer and Wine).
